although shancai disappointed him time and again, his love still stood strong. no matter who or what was in the way, he was determined to overcome them. the change in him was equally amazing. before her knew shancai, he only knew one way to live. at the beginning after he fell in love with shancai, he willfully demanded her to live his way, enter his world. but later, he took the initiative, steps out of his comfort zone and tries living as a commoner just to be close to shancai. (taking public transport, moving into the house next to shancai, out of his palace-like home just to protect her) it must have been extremelly tiring for him to love a fickleminded girl like shancai but he still held on.
Jerry Yan played Dao ming si sooo well. he is really super handsome in the show and not forgetting super cool and cute. when he smiles, those dimples! :D His gaze is always so gentle when it's on shancai. Although he is super popular among the girls and many suck up to him, he doesnt bother with any of them. unlike shancai who's always drifting between lei and him or lei who's also drifting between jing and shancai, when do we ever see dao ming si waver in his love for shancai?! even when they break up, he is still pining for her. like dao ming si told ximen, "i didnt let myself sink deeper (into the relationship with shancai). because i never came out of it. i just realised.. if i lose shancai, i might not even have the strength to breathe." usually i wouldnt be touched by something so corny, but jerry yan really did his part so well. i was really touched. from then, i think i can only see jerry yan as dao ming si.
meteor garden 2 was bleh. all problems lie with the fact that Dao ming si lost his memory. in other words, all his charms. T_T watch meteor garden 1!!!
Name: Wu Zun
Date of Birth: October 10, 1980
currently watching hua yang shao nian shao nu, the taiwan drama based on the jap manga hana-kimi starring ella and fahrenheit and definitely swooning over WU ZUN. he's definitely the best looking guy i've seen in a long time. he's got the clean, anime-pretty, cute and cool look! i carn believe he's already 27! at first i thought he must be around 23.
but i must say his acting hasnt really matured in hua yang shao nian shao nu. he seems quite a natural actor but still hasnt been able to touch me with his acting. but his looks definitely made up for this short coming *winks* i love his hairstyle in hua yang alot more than tokyo juliet. he definitely does not suit that long hair. make him look all sissy and gay. yuck.
hope he can act with rainie yang! i think they'll look really cute together XD
Name: Vic Zhou
Date of Birth: June 9, 1981
vic zhou is undeniably good looking. however i felt his performance in Meteor Garden was, to put it bluntly, nothing more than a block of wood. i really felt he couldn't act. hua ze lei was such an interesting character, yet he didn't manage to portray it convincingly. i know lei is supposed to be cool and introvert, but vic has practically the same expressionless expression on his face throughout the show. luckily he's handsome, if not i'll get really turned off. :p
the same impression of him stayed with me until i watched silence. his acting in there was much better. it might be due to his character inside the show as well. anyway i find him more natural and his intense gaze at park eun hye in the drama often melts me :D so can tell he's improving! although some scenes i still find him saying his lines as if he was reading off the script.
another thing i find quite interesting is that i thought vic's personality is quite outspoken cos i saw the MG's NG scenes and he was playing a fool. not at all like the usual cool and rich guy images he has in most of his dramas. funny thing hurh? XD maybe he just has that COOL face. hahah.
Name: Mike He Jun Xiang
Date of Birth: Dec 28, 1983
Let's just say Mike He hasn't managed to capture my heart :p despite the fact that i especially caught Devil Beside You to find out the reason why people have been screaming "AH MENGGGG". i can see that he's very cool in the show and sweet. but sadly his role doesn't leave any impact on me. firstly, his expressions are quite limited. i wonder why some people even compare jiang meng to dao ming si. i know i may be biased because im a fan of meteor garden, but i seriously think jerry yan did a much better job! read a review on spcnet which said that dao ming si is different from jiang meng because the previous is "immature beyond belief" and "a selfish jerk", while the latter is mature and wise.
well, i beg to differ.
one thing i can't stand about DBY is that the characters were overly idealistic and unrealistic. (sorry im obviously digressing) usually there are two types of "overly perfect" characters. one type is the entirelty too-good-to-be-true kind eg sophie from green forest, my home. she's selfless, kind, sweet, blah! PERFECT. but i don't mind that kind of characters because at least they're consistently good. the other kind is like jiang meng. the director obviously wants the character to be more appealing. thus the common mixture of bad-on-the-outside-but-good-inside. some might argue "but it's possible!" yes it's possible, but it's too stretched and highly unlikely i assure you. whereas dao ming si is obviously a flawed person. if you don't like him, fine.
okay lets not get me started on the fact that dao ming si is SO MUCH HOTTER as well. :D
